Did you know Youth for Christ was originally a spearhead project to make men of character?

Ever since my Kuya Zel days when he got up on stage and said

My name is Anzel Reyes, I am 20something years old, and I am a virgin.

I always believed the brotherhood to be the foundation of YFC. I always thought that being a brother in YFC meant being a man of character and discipline and self-control.

Until I heard Tony Meloto speak today and he said it himself. YFC was created to make men of character. That meant the world for me to hear that - to know that my beliefs were actually this dude’s plans. He talked about how problems in today’s society are mostly because men have lost their balls. And girls are growing them. Look at criminals (mostly male), and look at family problems (mostly males).

He talked about how he wanted to make sure his four daughters married a man. Not a half-man. He wanted to make sure his daughters married a virgin, even if his daughters were not as innocent and pure. That way he would know that this man had discipline, self-control, and character.

He said women were held up to supremely high standards, while men did as they pleased. It wasn’t fair to the ladies. He said if men get to pick the girl, only the girl can dump the boy. It’s only fair. It’s only fair if the girl who fucks around is a slut, and the guy who fucked her is a slut too. It’s not fair to women having to constantly test their men, question their motives and actions, or cry over unsolved mysteries.

Yes, love is a mystery. But love is clear too. I think holding myself up to the same standards I hold my women too (lol like I have women), and still loving them when they don’t meet them (whether I know it or not), is love. I don’t want to sort women by my standards, or love one according to how well she meets the mark, I just want my lady to know that I love her so much, that I would meet those requirements myself just to be with her. Love is the act of discipline, self-control, and character.

In short, it’s not about how perfect she is, it’s about how perfect I can be for her. (Yea, no one’s perfect, I get it.)
